About this project

Focus

Five years ago, Xylem had minimal engagement with the African media landscape, with limited local press coverage and brand awareness. The global brand required local positioning as a thought leader in the water solutions industry. A key focus was ensuring the brand messaging resonated with communities and industry stakeholders in Africa.

Task

Innocomm was tasked to increase Xylem Africa’s voice in the media, grow its digital presence, and enhance the brand’s reputation as a global leader in water solutions within the African market.

Strategy

We implemented a multi-faceted Public Relations approach to amplify Xylem Africa’s brand visibility. This involved research, brand alignment workshops and strategy development specifically for key African territories.

Work in action

We developed and executed tailored PR campaigns to align with Xylem Africa’s business objectives and Africa strategy. This included article pitching, case studies, on site media activations, facilitating high-impact broadcast media interactions with Xylem thought leaders, and community stakeholders. Furthermore we created and distributed compelling content across digital channels to build an engaged online community. The consistent stream of tactics rolled out across traditional and digital media ensured a cohesive messaging for Africa across all platforms.

Results achieved

To date over 4,500 pieces of earned media coverage have been achieved, securing Xylem Africa’s visibility in the African market. This has resulted in more than 12 billion cumulative reads of Xylem Africa’s content.

By establishing and growing Xylem Africa’s LinkedIn and Facebook pages we have contributed to achieving 6,000 engaged followers, with 95% acquired organically.

Xylem’s reputation as a global leader in water solutions is now strong in the African landscape, maintaining relevance to Africa’s unique challenges.

Through our strategic and consistent approach, we successfully transformed Xylem Africa’s presence in the media and digital landscape, reinforcing its role as a leading advocate for sustainable water solutions in Africa.

What’s next

Building on this momentum, we aim to further expand Xylem’s influence in key markets by deepening engagement with key stakeholders, leveraging emerging digital platforms, and increasing regional media outreach. We will continue refining content strategies, exploring innovative PR tactics, and strengthening relationships with industry partners to sustain and grow Xylem’s impact in Africa.
