Johannesburg, 4 March 2020: This International Women’s Day, we are shining a light on the most influential and powerful female artists around the world.  We’ve curated dedicated playlists honouring and celebrating these inspirational ladies, and we’re making it super easy for you to discover (and champion!) our all-female lineup.

We’ve asked the world’s biggest stars like Annie Lennox, Anne Marie and Anitta to name fellow female artists that inspire them the most. Starting today, you can listen to their special IWD playlists exclusively on Deezer. You might feel a musical kinship with Lolo Zouaï’ who looks up to Françsoie Hardy and Beyoncé, while Jade Bird’s inspiration comes from Robyn and Mazzy Star. Playlists will be front and center on our homepage from now until 8th March, so you can support all your favourite female all-stars even beyond IWD.

If you prefer a specific genre, you’ll still be able to support female talent by listening to our genre-specific playlists ranging from Alternative to Classical. Podcast fans can also find a special selection of female-led shows such as ‘The Guilty Feminist’ and ‘Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations.

“It’s an honour to work with the International Women’s Day charity for our third year. We need far greater equality in our industry, but it’s not something that will get solved overnight. We want to make sure that female artists get promoted and highlighted. We can’t wait to share the playlists with fans and hope that we can help them discover new music and shows to love,” said Marie Lallia who is a Senior Operations Manager for Deezer’s Artist Marketing.

“Great music can connect and empower women worldwide. Celebrating female artists not only inspires fans and future talent, but also forges expectation around women’s equal visibility. The music industry plays a significant part in helping drive a gender equal world so women artists can enjoy the recognition they rightly deserve as we head towards an #EachforEqual world,” added Glenda Slingsby, Partnerships Director for International Women’s Day.
